Xtreme put the “Puppies” to bed for New Years..

After coming off a tough 3-1 loss against the St Adolphe Hawks on December 28; The Springfield Xtreme returned to the Oakbank One Insurance Arena on Saturday December 30th looking to rebound back and win facing a short handed Steinbach Huskies squad.

The Xtreme had a difficult start, and the Huskies kept the game close throughout the first period, succeeding in ending Trey Blank’s consecutive-game shutout streak (Total: 135 minutes).

After watching the Future Xtreme stars score during the intermission, the Springfield Xtreme stepped up and put three goals past the “Puppies” in the second period with two of the goals from Xtreme Captain: Jesse Mitchell. The Xtreme kept on the pressure and were able to take a 4-2 lead going into the third period.

The third period was controlled by the Xtreme, as the “Puppies” were getting tired and ready for bed!

The game ended in a 5-3 win for the Xtreme, after some solid fore-checking from Tyrell Courchene, Brandon Melnick and Matt Relf that kept the “Puppies” hemmed in the zone for the last 1:20 of the game.
